I manage medium and small business SEO campaigns, so I often get people – clever, busy people running their own businesses who don’t have time to read one million SEO articles or spend umpteen hours testing their latest SEO idea – ask me “how can I get to number one in Google?”
The thing you have to realise is that EVERYONE in your industry niche wants that spot! So because it is competitive, this often makes it complicated.
However, having said that, your competitors are just as busy as you, so you might actually be able to leapfrog the competition to the number one (or two or three) position in Google if you know a trick or two. And my number one trick (this is no secret to SEO guys) is this:
Use a domain name that features your best keyword or keywords. So if you sell organic veges, get “organicveges.com.au” if you can. Failing that, try “MikesOrganicVeges.com.au” – that kind of thing.
I don’t know how many businesses don’t do it, but until something changes in Google, all evidence says it still works. It still gives you a big leg up in Google.
